Peter Williams – Group Sales Director
Peter joined Biopharma in 2001 in capacity of Sales Manager specialising in freeze drying equipment from a background in engineering sales. As time progressed, he moved on to the position of Sales Director overseeing the growth and day-to-day running of the freeze drying & process equipment side of the business.
In January 2016, with the strengthening of the Biopharma Group within the integration of our independent consultancy division, Peter agreed to become Group Sales Director overseeing the sales & marketing activities of the Freeze Drying and Process Equipment Sales, Service & Maintenance AND independent R&D and Analysis Consultancy divisions of the organisation.
Richard Lewis – BPS Sales Manager (Equipment Sales)
Having gained a BSc & MSc in Environmental Sciences and furthering his skill set with an internship at University of Haifa in Israel, on his return to the UK, Richard worked within clean room based environments as pharmaceutical technician; a role demanding strict adherence to cGMP and ISO9001 protocols.
Richard joined Biopharma in 2011 as Sales Executive for the UK & Ireland, a role requiring an in-depth knowledge of several niche product areas such as SP Scientific Freeze Dryers, Freeze Drying Formulation assistance/cycle development, Avestin Homogenisers, and Genevac Evaporators. This knowledge has aided him in understanding customer requirements/ objectives to offer technical & commercial advice in addition to preparing suitable quotations.
In January 2016 Richard received a promotion to become the BPS Sales Manager, where he would be keen to discuss Biopharma’s product areas in greater depth with both new and existing customers.
Ian Bailey – Senior Business Development Executive (Genevac Product Specialist)
Ian is our resident Genevac product specialist and joined the team mid 2014 when Biopharma added the Genevac range to their existing product portfolio. Ian transferred across to Biopharma directly from Genevac where he worked from 2003 selling the entire evaporation range to continue providing his expertise on the range, applications and product support to existing and new Genevac product users.
Outside of work, Ian has a keen interest in British and American classic cars, working on his allotment and has been an (almost) lifelong Arsenal supporter.
Ashley Morgan – Sales Executive
Ashley joined the Biopharma sales team taking on the role of Sales Executive for Avestin’s High Pressure Homogeniser product range. This role involves liaising closely with the product principal in Canada and customers throughout the UK and Ireland, building strong relationships as well as providing any information required regarding the Avestin range. His hands on approach covers everything from first point of contact through to demonstrations and working closely with our Avestin trained Service Engineer for installations.
Marta Romaniuk – Business Development Executive
Marta originally joined Biopharma in June 2015 as Project Sales Coordinator maternity cover for Clare Lees, having previously worked for several years in the construction industry as Office Manager and Project Assistant having gained a BA in Architectural Technology. In a very short time, it became apparent that Marta was a great asset to Biopharma and on completion of her MSc in Project Management, she became a permanent member of the team responsible for project planning, forecasting, and the logistical scheduling of freeze drying and process equipment orders liaising and co-ordinating with the sales teams and our product principals.
In 2017 Marta agreed to take on the role of Business Development Executive for our Kinematics & Controls Corp. powder fillers range and bench-top freeze dryers.
Maria D’Cruze – Project Sales Coordinator
Maria joined Biopharma in March 2017, replacing Marta as Project Sales Coordinator. Having previously achieved a BA (Hons) in Business Management with Sustainable Business and PRINCE2 Practitioner, she comes from a sales, supervisory and administrative background in a variety of commercial and local authority positions.
Maria is responsible for the overall coordination of projects, from point of sale through to delivery. Her role also involves assisting the Sales Manager (Equipment Sales) in the running of the UK & Ireland sales, office operation and communications.
Charis Hickey – Marketing Manager (Group)
Charis joined Biopharma in May 2015 from local government with a sales & marketing background in the property and security industries. At the point of joining, Charis was doing a BA (Hons) in Business & Marketing and is currently doing her AdWords & Analytics accreditations to become a ‘Google Partner’.
On a day to day basis, she is responsible for all the Marketing activities across the Biopharma Group divisions and CHTS liaising closely with divisional Directors and Managers for everything from advertising collateral design and placement (digital & print) to maintaining & updating website content, marketing literature, social media and digital marketing including strategy, events, budgets, implementation and beyond.
Jessica Sinclair – Marketing Assistant (Group)
Jessica joined Biopharma as Marketing Assistant in July 2016 on a 12 month placement as part of her studies at the University of Southampton. Studying for a BSc in Marketing, she is eager to put into practice the knowledge she’s learnt thus far during her year at Biopharma whilst gaining a sound grounding in the overall discipline of how Marketing and strategy fits into the business environment and differing objectives of B2B/ B2C organisations.
Outside of work Jessica enjoys going to the beach (as she originates from a sunny island) – however that may not be the case for her here!
Technical Service & Maintenance Team
Kevin Smith – Technical & Service Director
Kevin joined Biopharma in 1993 following a career in the Royal Navy specialising in refrigeration and air conditioning applications and was promoted to Technical & Service Director in 2014. Since 1993, Kevin has carried out installations, qualifications and re-location of a variety of freeze drying machines throughout Europe, Africa, India, China and USA.
As head of a dedicated engineering team, Kevin oversees the day to day running of the department and retains a hands-on role in the maintenance of freeze drying equipment within the UK and Ireland.
Patrick (Paddy) Conway – Senior Service Engineer
Paddy joined Biopharma in May 2009 having previously worked in the Automotive manufacturing industry, specialising in plastics injection moulding and automated manufacturing processes, whilst also undertaking the role as team leader in 5S and Kaizen activities throughout the plant.
Paddy’s role as senior service engineer sees him report directly to the Technical Director, assisting in the day-to-day running of the service department, in addition to carrying out planned service and calibration work, reactive maintenance, equipment installation and commissioning, machine qualifications and customer training.
Mike O’Keeffe – Service Engineer
Mike joined Biopharma in July 2014 after previously working as a site based engineer for a number of market leaders in the food and consumables sector.
Primary tasks include carrying out planned maintenance, diagnostic testing and calibration checks as well as installation and qualification of new freeze drying equipment on customer sites. In addition to his work on freeze dryers, Mike also conducts servicing on Avestin High Pressure Homogenisers throughout the UK & Ireland.
Bob McCullen – Service Engineer
Bob joined the company in November 1997 after serving 22 years in the Royal Navy as a weapons systems engineer.
During his long service with Biopharma he has acquired a wide range of experience in the maintenance and repair of freeze driers by our product principle, SP Scientific and has conducted many control system upgrades and several qualifications on a wide range of freeze drying systems.
An area in which Bob has proved to be a major contributor, is in the compilation of the qualification protocols for the SP Scientific freeze drying systems.
Daniel Ruck – Service Engineer
Daniel joined Biopharma in January 2016 as a member of the field-based Service Engineering team looking after the customers freeze drying units.
His background is as a Royal Air Force avionics technician having served nine years working on a variety of aircraft platforms across the globe. He has studied and trained in electrical and electronics engineering, aeronautical engineering and air-conditioning & refrigeration technology.
Clare Lees – Project Co-Ordinator & Quality Manager (Technical & Service)
Clare is a long standing member of the Biopharma team having joined in 2006 as a Research Scientist after working for several years in diagnostic laboratories of national and local government agencies, specialising in Microbiology and rapidly progressed to Senior Scientist.
In 2008, she took on a new role in the company as Project Sales Coordinator which was initiated to deal with technical paperwork for machinery sales and keeping up to date with relevant legislation as customer expectations increased. In 2014 Clare also took on the role of Quality Manager and is responsible for ensuring compliance to ISO9001. As of 2016, Clare is now Project Co-Ordinator for the service team and is responsible for maintaining customer relationships as well as helping with the day to day running of the department.
Accounts & Administration Team
Sharon Turner – Financial Controller & IT Manager
Sharon oversees the day to day financial functions of the group which includes 4 UK based companies, 1 in France and 1 in USA with her excellent team. She managed the recent stream-lining merger of BTL & BPS accounts and also looks after the general admin of I.T. functions at Biopharma. She is a Fellow of the A.A.T. having held the post of treasurer for several years and a member of the Chartered Management Institute and the local OU mathematics alumni.
Melanie Miles – Accounts Assistant
Melanie joined Biopharma in April 2015 after working in Accounts for four years in the video communication world, following on from having worked for an engineering company for five years in the south of England.
Melanie holds the MAAT qualification in Accounting and is responsible for handling day to day purchase & sales ledgers of the equipment sales, service/ maintenance engineering and BTF (Biopharma Technologies France) divisions within the Biopharma Group.
Debra Keepence – Accounts Assistant
Debra joined Biopharma in June 2015 working as one of the Accounts Department team and holds the MAAT qualification. Previously she worked 18 months for a Charity who maximise opportunities for disabled people and prior to this was a Finance Officer in the Education sector for seven years.
Current responsibilities are for the processing of day to day transactions for sales and purchase ledgers for the consultancy division of the organisation.
Laura Hiles – Administration Assistant
Having previously worked for Biopharma, Laura rejoined the company in 2010 as Administration Assistant. She is responsible for front of house reception receiving guests, deliveries (liasing closely with the cross division sales and service teams) and incoming calls from customers or suppliers.
Additionally, Laura has also recently proven to be an invaluable help to the Accounts team in the role of credit control, invoicing of spare parts as well as dealing with spare parts orders for customers with existing freeze dryers.
