The equipment ranges offer benefits across applications like microbial fermentation, recombinant protein production, probiotics, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), vaccines, stem cells, biosimilars, cell and gene therapy, to name a few.

Bioreactors:

From 0.5L to 4,000L

TFF Systems:

0.5m2 to 65m2

Delivery of equipment within the upstream biotechnology environment that offer unparalleled efficiency is the core goal, with easy scalability (scale-up and scale-down), and meet the needs of any quality aspects, too.

Across our spectrum of laboratory to commercial scale equipment, advanced operating systems are included to allow operators the ability to adjust settings easily whilst accessing real-time data of selected critical parameters, such as:

pH • CO₂ • Temperature • Foam levels • O₂ • N₂ • Agitation speed

We are also proud to offer our clients solutions in both multi-use (stainless steel), or single use design, to ensure our customers have the ability to satisfy their own internal process needs.

Laboratory Scale

eLAB Series of Bioreactors:

With a compact footprint, the laboratory range can be as small as 200mm wide, with an overall weight of under 5kg, making our systems popular within busy laboratory environments where bench space can be at a premium.

Use of these systems being extensive within cell culture and microbial fermentation, where operators process volumes between 0.5L and 10L, capability to offer real-time monitoring via our intuitive and advanced operating system is highly beneficial.

Crucial parameters like pH, oxygen levels (O₂), temperature, and foam levels can be monitored in real-time to allow the command and connection of up to 12 vessels simultaneously, where required.

This makes eLAB instruments the equipment of choice for supporting highly flexible workflows by allowing users to adapt the equipment when dealing with diverse experimental requirements.

Of note is that eLAB units are available in both multi-use or single use format, to ensure we are able to cater the needs of the end user.

eLAB Series of TFF Systems:

Tangential flow filtration (TFF) systems, designed for laboratory use to enable the concentration or purification of liquids, including those involving proteins or antibodies, by passing them through a semi-permeable membrane.

The eLAB TFF system is available in either multi-use and single-use configurations, both of which provide operators with numerous benefits including:

  • High Performance: Achieving efficient concentration and purification with minimal clogging or filter fouling
  • Sample Integrity: The system minimises shear stress, protecting delicate samples like proteins and cells
  • Simplified Workflow: Users can enjoy automated processes with minimal manual intervention
  • Precise Control: Maintain complete control of specific flow rates for optimal results

The eLAB Series can also be configured to work with your preferred membrane type, further enhancing the versatility and ease of use within your bioprocess workflow. Membrane types:

  • Cassette Membrane – Particularly well suited for:
    • applications requiring high throughput combined with sensitivity for quality retention of biomolecules
    • low shear stress on cells and proteins, ensuring the integrity of samples during concentration and diafiltration is maintained
  • Hollow Fibre Membrane:
    • for processes that might necessitate high surface-area-to-volume ratios
    • for high efficiency separation and purification tasks
    • beneficial for its high packing density and low hold-up volume
  • Ceramic Membrane:
    • for laboratory filtration processes that require an enhanced longevity and durability
    • a preferred setup where harsh solvents such as low pH acids or higher pH bases are involved

Whether the priority be getting the most from a throughput perspective, or working with sensitive samples, the TECNIC eLAB TFF system offers a versatile and efficient solution.

Pilot Scale

ePilot Series of Bioreactors:

With extensive experience within the bioprocessing industry, the Biopharma Group team appreciates the importance of bridging the gap between R&D and full-scale production equipment and procedures; our pilot range of TECNIC bioreactors and TFF systems does exactly this.

TECNIC ePILOT bioreactors can run batches between 10L and 50L in a controllable, scalable manner and be configured specifically for either microbial fermentation or cell culture, they can even use interchangeable vessels for maximum flexibility.

The bioreactors have a built-in programmable logic controller (PLC) for precise control, real time monitoring of the culturing environment, coupled with an efficient dimpled jacket for precise heat transfer on selected systems, ensuring optimal cooling and heating takes place.

Additionally, systems can also be offered with a high performance bottom-mounted, magnetically coupled drive for impeccable agitation, while the incorporated load cells provide accurate weight measurement.

From an impeller perspective, TECNIC caters for both the microbial and cellular markets by offering either Rushton impellers (microbial) or Pitch Blade single-use impellers.

Whether the application requires a multi-use stainless steel fabricated bioreactor, or a system manufactured to accommodate the needs of single use technology to minimise the prospect of cross-contamination, we have the solution.

ePilot Series of TFF Systems:

TECNIC’s ePILOT TFF systems are designed with the purification and concentration of biological products/ biomolecules in mind, with operation modes and features like pressure control, concentration mode, and diafiltration mode for different process needs, on a user friendly platform.

Available in a standard size with a 50L tank, systems can handle various membrane types and surface areas up to 6.5m² of filtration area. Additionally, the system is fully automatic by default, utilising differential pressure, transmembrane pressure, or crossflow as control regulation for process concentration and diafiltration.

This equipment contributes to the efficiency of the overall bioprocess upstream and downstream processes, ensuring the successful transition between these two crucial stages with a user-friendly interface and a compact design for easy integration into existing pipelines. The ePILOT® TFF advanced system includes a variety of operational modes such as TMP, concentration, diafiltration, and water flux test modes, making it highly versatile for different bioprocessing requirements.

Production Scale

ePROD Series of Bioreactors:

A robust unit, constructed to meet the demands of production scale operations, whilst delivering versatility and high-level efficiency for large-scale production, with capacities reaching up to 4000 litres.

In-line with the laboratory and pilot series units, the ePROD can also be selected in a single-use format, utilising a stirred tank reactor solution with volumes up to 1000 litres, and engineered to excel in large-scale biomanufacturing to streamline the production process.

ePROD Series of TFF Systems:

Production scale tangential flow filtration systems offer versatile capacity, featuring membrane (such as ceramic, cassette, and hollow fibre) areas ranging from 7m² to 65m² and tailored to enhance operational efficiency in industrial-scale bioprocessing. Plus, boasting a magnetically stirred tank vessel, it all enables compatibility for use across a wide range of volumes for microfiltration, nanofiltration, or ultrafiltration applications.

The ePROD TFF is fully automated to facilitate reliable and consistent product quality during continuous operation and streamlined production by simplifying the industrial filtration process, freeing up time and resources for other aspects of production.

TECNIC ePROD bioreactors and TFF systems are designed to optimise downstream processes and maximize productivity in large-scale bioprocessing applications.
