Our contribution allows ‘Project Green’ to launch a free bike hire and rental hub service, which residents can use to improve their mental and physical health, whilst also reducing their carbon footprint. This initiative is a commitment to a more environmentally conscious, greener future and follows on from the successful installation of charging points for electric vehicles at the centre, facilitated by a grant provided by Winchester City Council.
Although the Winchester District is generally considered to be an affluent area, health inequalities still exist within our local community. The Biopharma Group UK head office is based in Winchester and we want to do all we can to have a positive impact on our local community. We really hope that this project will encourage people to increase their physical activity and reduce their carbon footprint.
Unit 12 is working to become the first community centre in the country to have the lowest carbon output and be fully self-sustainable! The Unit12 team are currently trying hard to reach their 7.5k donation target, as once they reach that target the total funds will be matched by British Cycling!
If you would like to discover more about this initiative contact the team at Unit 12, who will be happy to help.
If you would like to contribute toward the ‘Project Green’ target, any donations would be greatly appreciated via the Crowdfunder link here > https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/project-green-1
