The End of an Era – Changes Are Afoot at Biopharma Group

by biopharmacharis in BTL News, BTL Right Sidebar Content

It is with regret that we find ourselves announcing that, after 17 years of stellar service at the heart of Biopharma Group helping build the company to where it is today, Peter Williams has chosen to retire for personal reasons. Peter shall be stepping down from his role as Group Sales Director at the end of June 2019, and handing the baton on to Dr. Roberto Castangia, whom some of you may already be familiar with from his existing role at Biopharma as Global Head of Research Development & Innovation.

Roberto, who joined Biopharma in April 2016 is a natural choice as successor to Peter, having previously worked at Shimadzu Corporation as Global Sales Manager in the Analytical Instruments division, providing worldwide support in R&D, Business Development and Marketing. His training and background provide an excellent basis for his new role.

Roberto graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology in Italy, investigating novel approaches in the synthesis of natural molecules with biological activity. After, he worked extensively in drug formulation and delivery in both CNRS (France) and Max Planck Institute (Germany), designing new drug carriers. These studies were followed by his PhD in Chemical Biology at The University of Manchester in 2010 and a Post-Doc at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) in 2011. With over 20 years experience in the academic and industrial market, Roberto holds comprehensive experience in both Business and R&D at all levels of small, mid-size companies up to large corporations.

All at Biopharma Group will miss Peter, but wish him a happy and healthy retirement safe in the knowledge that he is handing the Sales Teams across the divisions of Biopharma Group into the safe hands of Roberto.

We hope that you will join us in wishing Peter & Roberto the best of luck.
